I still haven’t come up with a name yet, but I’ve been working pretty intensely on this painting for the last few days. The muse fled me for a few days, but she’s back now with a vengeance, I’m happy to report.
I’m continuing work on the windows, which is one of my very favorite parts of a painting … working on the details. For those who’ve seen my previous update will remember that the window on the left used to be a lot warmer. My original idea for the house, however, was to keep it a kind of glowy blue. I wanted my red door and the lanterns to really stand out, which was impossible with my usual warm interior colors. Deciding to keep my interiors cool, I tested my theory on the right window. But, that monotone of blue was just overpowering, so I added the red vase and the sunflowers. I really loved how that turned out, so I converted the left side as well. What do you think?
