Since my launch date of October 17th, I’ve been busy slogging through how to use Facebook to market my ArtByDArt Etsy shop. It’s not easy. Today, I intended to share another of my paintings. I can’t do it directly through Etsy, because Facebook crops the picture. I’ve figured a way around that. I upload a picture of my item, then in the comments section, I put a link to that page in the Etsy shop. The ironic part is that the images aren’t cropped in comments. Arggh!
Etsy was the victim of some hacking today, so I wasn’t able to do much of anything online. I just don’t know how I’m going to get people to even like my Facebook page, much less to buy anything. Only about one third of my friends liked my page. I’m not the type to nag my friends, so I have to find another way to get Likes, and who knows if Likes will equal sales. But with Etsy down, I decided there was no point on working on marketing.
I had no other productive choice to make other than to do some actual painting. I really had to force myself at first, but it wasn’t long until I was really enjoying myself. My current project is a French Quarter scene at night. I’m trying to make it a moody piece. Though I’m still in the process of just putting paint on canvas, it’s coming along nicely, I think. What do you think?
